Midnight thoughts, watching the falling snow

Right now, tis snowing outside..
maybe a good 4-5inches already..
for a week, forecast was Max10, Min-10.
am waiting for Spring to hit with bloom o blossoms n
greener grass.. now tis cold and dry.. gray-n-white sky,
brown-n-occasional-white below and leafless trees..
Ah these icy stares and wintry smiles
o the Weather Gods ! But without those,
once spring is back in your steps, would the
Cherry Blossoms and Royal Azaleas carpeting the walkways
in this part of the globe.. would they be as appealing ??

Last was a three day weekend- Monday being
National holiday, commemorating Korea's independence-
uprising of 1919 to end the Japanese invasion.
Biting cold winds didnt allow to venture out much.

postponed the plan to visit this bird-sanctuary just
outside the high-security border area with N.Korea..

(anyone crossing the area can be shot dead; most
likely bullets will travel in the North-to-South
direction. But that is, in the unlikely event of u managing
to get inside the DMZ, the DeMilitarized Zone, the 2.5miles-wide
area all along the 150mile border at 38th parallel,
from Yellow Sea in the west to the 'Sea of Japan'
[hushh... ie., 'The East Sea' for any proud Korean,
they Ne'r cal it 'Sea of Japan' ! ].
The border is only 50-60km from here)

came to know about the sanctuary from a
NatGeo mag (Jul/03) I picked from Blr, seeing the
divided Korea as the Cover-story.
The rare large migratory Red-Crowned Cranes from Siberia
and NorthEast China can be seen wintering there.
Need to get the permission from Military to go there.

Tho' my Korean pal had invited me and a friend to stay
overnight at his place in downtown after a planned
hang-out at an Irish pub.. it so happened, he ended up
spending the night at my aptmnt.. and instead of Irish pub,
we guys spent time at a nearby Korean pub..
topping the night up with gud fun playing Pool.

HyunWook Tak, the jolly Korean pal rued, he had a hard
time finishing the Korean curry his mom prepared for
us 2 invitees, as his plans to play host went bust.

signing off...
